“మా అమ్మగారి వద్దనే సంగీతశిక్షణ జరిగింది. ఆమె సూరి లక్ష్మీనరసమాంబగారు. తండ్రి రామచంద్రశర్మగారు.నైనేపిళ్ళె వద్ద సంగీతంనేర్చుకున్నారు. నేను విని నేర్చుకున్నదే ఎక్కువ. హిందీ తెలుగు సినిమా సంగీతదర్శకులంతా గురువులే. ఎంత శాస్త్రీయసంగీతం విన్నానోనాకే తెలియదు. చిన్నప్పటినుండీ నాకూ అన్నయ్యలకూ స్వరకల్పనే ప్రియమైన విషయం. ఎన్నో ట్యూన్ లు చేశాను. నేను వ్రాసి ట్యూన్ చేసి మిత్రులతో ఆనందంగా.పంచుకోవడమే ఆనందం. నేను ప్రొఫెషనల్ ని కాదు”
Son of late Suri Ramachandra Sarma and Lakshmi Narasamamba, Suri Kumaraswamy inherited music and love of other Fine Arts from parents. His mother was a vainika, singer and music teacher. Suri Kumaraswamy inherited his mothers’ tastes which have enabled him to appreciate different forms of poetry and music: classical(Carnatic, Hindustani, Western and Persian), Light Music etc. By profession, he was a Lecturer in English, JKC College, Guntur, AP. All his siblings are good composers and singers. Kumaraswamy published a volume of songs, MANASA THARANGNI.
His wife, Prayaga Vedavathi retired as the SD of AIR and has sound knowledge of music. His sister Indraganti Janakibala was an an AIR light music artist and famous writer. Kumaraswamy is blessed with two sons who can sing well, besides being profs in IISc, Bengalore. Kumaraswamy has confined his musical interests to his own personal happiness and friends’ pleasure. This contribution of songs is part of the same aatmaanandam.
